Regularly performing her solo work throughout Europe, the USA and Australia, Anthea has developed a complex relationship between amplified and acoustic cello, and the concert space it inhabits. Positioning her cello as the central sound source within a larger quadraphonic setup, her performance immerses the audience within the sonic intricacies of the instrument by meshing these sounds into a larger multidimensional spatial environment. Her performances are often conducted in complete darkness, bringing the audience closer to the psycho-acoustic terrain she explores.

This project has been supported by the Q02 Residency program in Bruxelles and performed at La Sumain du Son Festival, Bruxelles, Instants Chavires, France, Observatori Festival, Valencia, Now Now Festival, Sydney, Westspace Arts Gallery, Melbourne, Netwerk Center for Contemporary Art, Belgium, Echtzeitmusik Festival, Berlin and the Sant'Andrea degli amplificatori, Bologna.

"Anthea Caddy's cello playing reminds us that her chosen instrument is a potentially lethal assemblage of twisted wood and highly strung metal and gut: press the hairs of the bow down hard on the back of the instrument and it could be a tree succumbing to the ravages of a forest fire or the masts and rigging of a sailing ship in distress at sea", Dan Warburton, The Wire, 2012
